Susan Marie McBee, 79, of Nashua, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Edgewood Center in Portsmouth, NH, while at the Beacon Hospice.
Susan was born in Los Angeles, California on September 30, 1942, daughter of the late Alfred Hall and Ruth Hall. She was the beloved wife of John E. McBee with whom she shared 57 years of marriage before her death.
Prior to being a mother, Susan had worked for ten years for the Pacific Telephone Company in Los Angeles, California with her best friend, Betty J. Kellor, who moved to New Hampshire to be near Susan. Susan was dedicated to being Betty’s 24-hour primary caretaker in Betty’s house as she was symptomatic of stage four breast cancer and until her death. This is how much Susan loved and was devoted to her best friend.
What is remembered the most about Susan is her ability to inspire unconditional love in others. Her childhood sweetheart, who was also her husband, was completely devoted to her every day of her life. And her lifelong best friend, who was also completely devoted to Susan, and with whom she shared a special bond that went beyond friendship.
Susan was a devout Catholic. Even when she couldn’t walk, she watched Mass on TV, EWTN, Sister Angelica, and Father Spitzer’s universe. Susan prayed the Rosary every day until her death.
Susan was a big animal lover. She had a deep commitment and compassion for animals and she has had several animals throughout her life. The ashes of three of her dogs will be buried with her.
Susan loved to talk and when she became completely confined to bed and chair, she continued talking on the phone with her friends and family for hours.
She had a great sense of style, being polite and putting together outfits with coordinating accessories was her passion. Susan always put a lot of effort into her look; presentation was everything.
Susan is survived by: a daughter; Robin Catherine McBee of Nashua, two sons; Steven Christopher McBee of Dracut, MA, Joel Edward McBee and his wife Charity of Nashua, his sister; Colleen Gaznick of Tewksbury, MA, her two nieces; Jennifer Pinet of Haverhill, MA, Joslyn Dubois of Pelham NH, and her nephew Timothy Dewys of Miami Beach Florida.
