Peterborough Council calls for furniture to help Afghan refugees

Peterborough City Council is actively working to resettle up to 100 Afghan refugees in the city and the first two families are now permanently housed.

As part of the effort to help more families find housing, anyone with the following good quality items to resell is encouraged to donate:

Items can be dropped off at the Carezone warehouse at Dodson House, Fengate, Peterborough PE1 5XG. The warehouse is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During this time, volunteers are also needed to help in the warehouse to sort and clean the furniture for family use. Anyone interested can contact Carezone on 01733 575083.

The refugees, who are primarily family units, are resettled under the Afghan National Resettlement and Assistance Policy (ARAP) and the broader Afghan Citizen Resettlement Program (ACRS) for other vulnerable Afghans.
