Narberth Jazz is looking for young musicians for a new group
Young musicians are needed for a new group based in Narberth.
The call came from Narberth Jazz, which hosts a monthly live jazz event at the Plas hotel in town.
The group was inspired to start the group after receiving a large amount of equipment and instruments from a local donor.
All young instrumentalists with a minimum level of 3rd year are eligible, as well as aspiring singers. Successful applicants will have weekly, part-time, group sessions performed by qualified teachers at minimal cost.
The music played will be open to discussion, but will be guided by the ambitions of the band members. It is hoped that creative improvisation in jazz styles will be part of the ongoing program.
This project is available to all musicians under 25 who live within a 10 mile radius of Narberth.
President Ben Morris said: “At the moment, we hope to assess the level of interest, as music in schools has been reduced in recent years, and there are so few opportunities to learn the skills. necessary for group play. ”
To register an interest, contact Narberth Jazz by email [email protected] or call 07778 563334.

He is well known to jazz fans here as this will be his third time coming to Narberth to give an evening of jazzy entertainment with the John Gibbon Trio.
