MBVV cops denounce illegal racketeering by international telephone exchange

Acting on a denunciation received from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Gujarat, the criminal branch unit led by Police Inspector Aviraj Kurhade under the supervision of DCP (Crime), Dr. Mahesh Patil raided an apartment in the NGLaza building located in Pooja Nagar on Mira Road and apprehended a suspect identified as Sajjad Sayyed for exploiting the illegal telephone exchange. via Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP).

The accused apparently converted international calls to domestic calls after bypassing legal gateways of telecommunications networks like Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

The illegal network not only resulted in huge revenue losses for the treasury, but also increased the security threat, with calls escaping the scrutiny of legal gateways.

In addition to other computer accessories, the criminal branch team recovered three SIM boxes (32 slots each), 125 SIM cards, an antenna, a router, a mini laptop, a LAN port switch and cables from the network. ‘apartment. The value of the seized accessories is fixed at Rs. 3.42 lakhs.

Notably, the Gujarat ATS dismantled a similar racketeering on Wednesday in the Juhapura district of the city of Ahmedabad, which led to action at Mira Road a day later.

During this time, a case under sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and the relevant provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885 and the Indian Wireless Telegraph Act of 1933 was filed against the accused at the post office.
